CalStar Services is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards wherever possible. If you experience any barrier, please contact us — we will respond within 2 business days.
Our Commitment
CalStar Services believes that every person — regardless of ability — deserves equal access to information about our services. We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, including individuals who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control software, and display magnifiers.
This statement applies to all pages published on https://calstar.com and associated subdomains operated by CalStar Services, Inc.
Conformance Standards
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities and are the internationally recognized benchmark for web accessibility. WCAG 2.2 (published October 2023) supersedes 2.1 and adds additional success criteria around focus appearance, target size, and accessible authentication.
Our current status is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to address known gaps on an ongoing basis.
Accessibility Features
We have implemented the following features to improve accessibility across the site:
- Semantic HTML — pages use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions (
<nav>, <main>, <footer>), and descriptive link text.
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements including navigation menus, forms, and modals are reachable and operable via keyboard alone.
- Focus indicators — visible focus outlines are preserved on all interactive elements to assist keyboard users.
- Color contrast — text and UI elements are designed to meet or exceed the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required by WCAG 2.1 AA for normal-sized text.
- Alternative text — all meaningful images include descriptive
alt attributes. Decorative images use empty alt="".
- Form labels — all form inputs are associated with visible labels or
aria-label attributes.
- Responsive design — content reflows and remains usable at up to 400% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- ARIA landmarks and roles — used where native HTML semantics are insufficient to communicate structure to assistive technologies.
- Skip navigation — a skip-to-main-content link is available for keyboard and screen reader users.
Known Limitations
- Math CAPTCHA on forms — our public forms (quote requests, contact, hauler applications, commercial account applications) use a simple arithmetic CAPTCHA to prevent spam for non-logged-in users. We are aware that cognitive CAPTCHAs may present a barrier under WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 3.3.8 (Accessible Authentication). If you are unable to complete the CAPTCHA, you can reach us directly by phone or email to submit any request — see Section 4.
- Live chat widget — the Tawk.to live chat widget is a third-party tool and may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. If you are unable to use the chat widget, phone and email are equally responsive alternatives.
- Embedded maps — Google Maps iframes may not be fully keyboard-navigable. A "Get Directions" link to Google Maps is provided as an alternative on all location pages.
Phone & Alternative Access
If you are unable to access any portion of our website, you can always reach us through any of the following channels to complete any task — including getting a quote, placing a service order, asking billing questions, submitting a hauler or commercial account application, or requesting service documentation.
- Phone: (888) 909-5556 — Mon–Fri 7 AM – 5 PM · Sat 8 AM – 1 PM PT
- Email:
- Contact form: calstar.com/contact
- Live chat: Available on most pages via the chat icon (requires JavaScript). If the chat widget is inaccessible to you, phone or email are equivalent alternatives.
Our team is available to read information aloud, complete forms on your behalf, describe product or service options, or arrange alternative formats (such as large-print documents) upon request. No task on this website requires you to use the online forms if they present a barrier.
Third-Party Content
Our website includes content or functionality from the following third-party providers. We do not control their accessibility implementations and cannot guarantee they meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards:
- Google Maps — embedded map iframes on location pages. A direct "Get Directions" link is provided as a keyboard-accessible alternative.
- Stripe — payment processing on the shop checkout. Stripe maintains its own accessibility standards; if you experience a barrier during checkout, contact us to arrange an alternative payment method.
- Tawk.to — live chat widget. The widget requires JavaScript and may not be fully navigable via keyboard or screen reader. Phone and email are fully equivalent alternatives for all support tasks.
- Bootstrap 5 — UI component library used for layout, modals, and interactive components. We have applied additional ARIA attributes where Bootstrap's defaults are insufficient.
- Tabler Icons — icon font used for decorative and functional icons. Functional icons are accompanied by visible labels or
aria-label attributes.
- Docket / SurvCart — our online ordering system is loaded in an embedded iframe modal provided by SurvCart. We do not control its internal accessibility implementation. If you are unable to use the order modal, you can place a service order by phone or email — see Section 4.
Where third-party tools present accessibility barriers, we will endeavor to provide alternative means of completing the same task. Please contact us if any third-party component prevents you from doing something on our site.
