Rejected freight load at a Los Angeles fulfillment warehouse dock
For Trucking Companies & Carriers

When the receiver says no and you are still holding the load.

You followed the BOL, drove the route, and showed up on time. But the consignee refused your load, damage in transit, wrong SKU, over/short, or a receiving error. Now your trailer is tied up, your dispatcher is calling, and the warehouse has no lumper or cross-dock solution on site. CalStar responds directly to the warehouse, fulfillment center, or delivery point. We assess the load condition, provide offloading when no lumper is available, document the rejection fully for your claim, and legally dispose of damaged or unusable goods under California permits. You authorize over the phone, we handle the rest so you can get your truck back on the road.

  • Direct dispatch to the dock - we come to the warehouse or fulfillment center, not a third-party yard.
  • Offload assistance - when no lumper is available, we provide the crew to clear your trailer.
  • Full documentation - timestamped photos, weight tickets, and disposal certificates for your broker, shipper, or insurance carrier.
  • Flat-rate pricing - quoted before we start. No surprise charges after the freight is gone.
  • Net-30 accounts - available for carriers and fleet operators with recurring volume.
Time Is Money

Call us from the dock, every hour your truck sits costs you.

Detention fees add up fast. CalStar dispatches same day so you can authorize the resolution, get your trailer cleared, and move on to your next run. Verbal authorization is all we need to get started.

What We Do

Three things we handle when your load is rejected.

On-Site Load Assessment

We dispatch to the warehouse, fulfillment center, or delivery point and assess the rejected load, condition, weight, and cause of refusal, so you have documentation before the truck leaves the dock.

Damaged Goods Disposal

When the load cannot be returned or salvaged, we dispose of it under the correct California permits. Full disposal certificates provided for your broker, shipper, or insurance carrier.

Full Documentation Package

Timestamped photos, weight tickets, disposal certificates, and chain-of-custody records, everything your broker or claims department will require, delivered same day.

Offload Assistance

When no lumper is available at the receiving facility, CalStar provides the manpower to unload the trailer so your truck is cleared from the dock and back on the road.

Cross-Dock & Staging

Salvageable freight staged for re-tender or cross-docking at our secure Sun Valley facility. We coordinate disposition with your broker or shipper on reusable goods.

Same-Day Dispatch

Call us from the dock. We confirm scope, provide a flat-rate estimate, and dispatch within hours, so your truck is not sitting idle while the paperwork gets sorted.

Simple Process

How it works for carriers.

Step 1
Call from the dock

Tell us the location, load type, and reason for rejection. We provide a same-day quote over the phone and confirm a dispatch window before you hang up.

Step 2
We come to the facility

A CalStar crew arrives at the warehouse, distribution center, or delivery address, typically within 2 to 4 hours of your call.

Step 3
Load assessed and documented

We photograph the load, note condition and weight, and obtain available refusal documentation from the receiving facility.

Step 4
Freight offloaded and removed

We unload the rejected goods from your trailer when no lumper is available, or haul from dock staging, whichever situation applies.

Step 5
Documentation sent to you

Weight tickets, condition photos, and disposal certificates are delivered to you within 24 hours for your records, broker, or insurance claim.

Who handles what

Carrier responsibilities, and where CalStar steps in.

When a load is rejected, the trucking company is responsible for clearing the freight from the dock. CalStar specializes in exactly this gap, when the warehouse has no lumper, no cross-dock, and no solution for you.

Your Responsibilities as the Carrier

  • Document the rejection immediately, timestamped photos of the load and the receiving dock
  • Obtain written refusal documentation from the receiver, verbal refusals alone are not sufficient for claims
  • Notify your broker or dispatcher immediately and confirm disposition instructions before leaving the facility
  • Arrange and pay for proper disposal or storage of rejected freight, this is the carrier's obligation

The Common Problem

  • The fulfillment warehouse has no lumper service available to unload your trailer
  • There is no cross-dock facility nearby that can accept the load same day
  • The shipper is unresponsive or disputes responsibility for disposal costs
  • Your truck is sitting idle at the dock while detention costs keep running

How CalStar Fills the Gap

  • We dispatch directly to the warehouse or delivery point, no need to move the load first
  • We provide offloading crew when no lumper is available so your trailer gets cleared
  • Damaged goods disposed of under California permits with full documentation for your claim
  • Flat-rate quote before we start, verbal authorization accepted to get moving immediately

Call us from the dock, don't wait until you're back at the yard.

Every hour your truck sits at an uncooperative dock is revenue you're not earning. We provide a phone quote in minutes and dispatch same day. Verbal authorization is enough to get us started.
